Camper Renovation- A different kind of interior design

At Home on the Range, we are lucky to get to work on projects of all shapes and sizes, from massive second homes to one-bedroom condos.  Each space has its own personality, and each project takes on its own story.  But, though all of our projects are beautiful and unique in their own ways, they all have one thing in common: they’re stationary.

So we daydream.

I have always been captivated by travel, and by the freedom that comes along with it.  RVs and campers have embodied this freedom for decades, and the idea of creating a “home on wheels” just absolutely delights me!  It’s like that very same feeling of freedom spills over into the design aspects- you can do just about anything you want!  I love the thought of making something so small but perfect in every way.  I love the thought of embodying a feeling in a space, and my favorite renovated campers do just that: they pinpoint America, the West, travel, comfort, and craftsmanship, and then drive them home all in one tiny little box.

Our good friend Ralph Lauren (well, we don’t know him, but we love his home goods) is a camper renovation master.  My Airstream daydreams mostly feature his designs.  The detail in his rolling rooms is minute, and I honestly think I could probably live in one of these.

I love the woodwork here, and the mix and match fabrics.  It gives me the feeling of riding in an upscale version of a covered wagon on the Oregon Trail.

Who WOULDN’T want to take a fishing trip in this baby?  Again, every detail has been perfected, and a solid “Masculine Modern Lodge” style has been achieved beautifully.  See the snowshoes in the back?  Love those!  I also love the subtle colors in this camper.

This is a little picture, but you can see how wonderfully Western it is!  The use of reclaimed wood with bold reds and blues make this camper a cowboy’s paradise!

Here’s another cowboy camper.  My favorite thing here is the way they hung the curtains, but look at the other elements as well- they just work!

I love the idea of making the bed into a nook with the use of curtains.  Also, the fairy lights make this space magical!

In this renovated bus, they really made use of the light from all of the windows.  This space just feel so comfortable, clean and airy!  I would love to drive around the country in this!

My favorite thing about this camper is the barn door.  Just wanted to share that.

So this little camper is provably too heavy to actually drive anywhere, but it’s beautiful nonetheless!  Look at the stained glass, and the hardware on the door!  Such a neat little space!

I'm dying to get a camper! They are already out of my Price range, and climbing steadily. But I can dream... I'd also live to have a Gypsy Caravan.

I think one of these campers would make a really fun office. A little bathroom and tiny kitchen would be the icing on the cake.
