While at the recent Design Bloggers Conference in LA,   I was completely inspired by the story of Lisa Robison, the founder of Dwell with Dignity  and designer Kim Turner who joined Lisa in her amazing endeavor to change peoples’ lives for the better.   I want to share their story here on our blog because it is a testament to the power of design and to the power of individual determination.  Lisa’s story propelled me to come back to Steamboat and contact Habitat for Humanity to explore ways the design community in Steamboat can help with their projects.  http://www.routtcohabitat.org/  .   Below is some information on Lisa and Dwell with Dignity that came from their website.

“Founder, Lisa Robison, is an Interior Designer who has spent the past decade raising her children and immersing herself in all things design-related.   Her desire to give back to her community and to pursue her passion for design culminated in the concept of Dwell with Dignity. Her strong belief that good design improves ones quality of life (and the “nest egg” birthday gift from her husband) resulted in the incorporation of this non-profit foundation in April of 2009.”

“Dwell with Dignity is a non-profit group of Interior Designers and volunteers dedicated to creating soothing, inspiring homes for families struggling with homelessness and poverty. We provide and install home interiors for families that include furnishings and art, bedding and kitchen supplies, and food in the pantry.”

Dwell with Dignity is a wonderful organization that has changed many people’s lives for the better since it began in spring 2009. Before and after photos of their design projects can be seen online, including this home for a family of four…
